The FoRCE Research Computing Environment cluster
The FoRCE (FoRCE Research Computing Environment) cluster is a heterogenous mixture of compute nodes that are generally available to Georgia Tech researchers via a merit-based proposal process.
Login access is provided via SSH to force.pace.gatech.edu from "on campus" networks only. If off campus access is desired, please use the VPN service provided by OIT.
Home directories come with a standard 5GB quota. Additional space can be allocated in a "project directory". Please include requests for space in your allocation proposal. High-performance scratch storage is also included. Data in home and project directories is backed up nightly, scratch space is not backed up.
Unless otherwise indicated, compute nodes do not have local storage.
Compute nodes currently available are (total 1008 CPUs, providing approximately 8.8 million CPU hours annually):
- 6 nodes; 24 AMD Opteron 8431 (2.4 Ghz) CPUs; 64 GB RAM; 2 nVidia Tesla S1070 (1.44 Ghz) GPGPUs; QDR Infiniband
- 5 nodes; 24 AMD Opteron 8431 (2.4 Ghz) CPUs; 128 GB RAM; 2.3 TB local disk; QDR Infiniband
- 31 nodes; 24 AMD Opteron 8431 (2.4 Ghz) CPUs; 64 GB RAM; DDR Infiniband
