Buzzard (HTC Workflows)

Buzzard is a High Throughput Computing system designed for workflows consisting of many independent jobs with each job fitting on a single compute node.

OSG’s Open Science Pool (OSPool) is an NSF-funded, national scale distributed High Throughput Compute system that specializes in running many small independent jobs. As a part of the NSF CC* award (1925541) used to create the Buzzard cluster, a portion of Buzzard’s compute resources are available to researchers using the OSPool and Buzzard researchers are able to take advantage of OSPool compute capacity.

Buzzard utilizes HTCondor Software Suite, a High Throughput Computing workflow manager, instead of Slurm to manage job submission. Access to this system is available through a terminal.
